There is always something going on in Jämsä

Jämsä is full of events all year round. In the winter, people are drawn to Himos with its ski slopes and weekend events, and in the summer the region is filled with festival guests. Located on the shores of Lake Päijänne in Central Finland, the city is also known for the magnificent and diverse nature of its region.

From the point of view of tourists, Jämsän Gasthaus is ideally located near the center of Jämsä, next to the train station. Downtown services are within walking distance.

The cross-country ski trail (Joenvarsi) starting from the center of Jämsä starts only 500 meters from the hotel, on the other side of the Jämsänjoki. You can ski all the way to Himos and further along the slope.

The first hotel in the area

Jämsä Gasthaus was built in 1952 for the extensive accommodation needs of Finland's first Olympic Games. During the Helsinki Olympics, the hotel also accommodated Olympic athletes, as the hotel was located along the route of the Olympic flame.

At least a gas station and a small bakery have once operated in connection with the hotel. Inn and hotel operations have been running continuously since 1955.
